Says Peter anyway, and I'm writing the blog. 13 competitors, bright sunshine, shame about the breeze.
Our visitors were very impressed - all were made to feel very welcome so thank you to all the club, especially Rollo and Matt who laid out all their sails for them to look at while rigging. A very jolly time was had on Saturday night in spite of Roger's shorts: Jimmy and the team laid on a terrific supper on Saturday night that even the Aldeburgh contingent were impressed by (my personal benchmark for Yacht Club catering but it's been a while...). Everyone also admired the facilities and in particular the easy launching from the Tempest Hard - on Sunday morning we launched all ten Itchenor-based boats in under 15 minutes, and it was a good four hours before HW.
Full write-up to follow shortly, but if anyone wants to know what Ian said to me over beer on Saturday night it was: 1) looser jib sheet and lots of easing it in puffs, 2) looser rig tension and trim it to keep the leeward shroud just off slack. Seemed to work OK eh? But not if you're parked up on the wrong side of the committee boat at the start...
